A background concept painting from the Disney Studios animated musical masterpiece, "Fantasia" (1940). Featuring a stunning rendering of a peaceful meadow surrounded by breathtaking fall foliage, the watercolor painting was created at the studio and used during the development process. The concept was likely created for the "The Nutcracker Suite" sequence of the film. Concepts like these were crucial for animators to develop the mood and feel of a scene, as well as camera framing, and world building. The watercolor imagery appears to be in the style of Disney Legend Mel Shaw, but has no definitive identification markings. Measuring 10.5"x11" overall, with the image itself measuring 8"x9.5", the concept art is in very good condition with light edge wear, including some tearing around the corners, pin holes along the edges due to studio use and, two stickers adhered to the paper, near the bottom left and right tree trunk.
